At PACSO, our Surgery Team is composed of highly skilled and experienced surgeons who specialize in a wide range of oncological procedures. Led by Dr. Ettienne J. Myburgh, our team focuses on the treatment of Head and Neck cancers, Breast cancer, Soft Tissue Sarcoma, Melanoma, and other complex oncological surgeries.

Dr. Ettienne J. Myburgh is a leading oncology surgeon specializing in Head and Neck cancers, Breast cancer, Soft Tissue Sarcoma, Melanoma, and other oncological procedures. He has over 20 years of experience and established his surgical practice at Mediclinic Panorama in Cape Town.
Dr. Myburgh completed his Surgical training at Tygerberg Hospital and University of Stellenbosch. He became a consultant surgeon in Head and Neck Oncology Surgery, Breast surgery, and Endocrine surgery in 2000. He has developed expertise in oncology surgery, oncoplastic breast techniques, and reconstructive procedures for head and neck tumors. Since 2003, he has been in private practice, where he established PACSO, the first multidisciplinary surgical oncology unit in South Africa.
Dr. Myburgh is a fellow of the College of Surgeons of South Africa and Chairman of the Cape Town Breast Cancer Forum. He is passionate about training surgeons and conducting research in surgical oncology and genetics, with over 10 publications to his name. His research includes genomic profiling in breast cancer, exome sequencing for genetic risk in breast cancer, and molecular profiling of thyroid nodules.
Dr. Marica Louw serves as the medical assistant to Dr. Myburgh. She is a qualified medical doctor with a strong passion for personalized patient care. Dr. Louw plays a critical role in triaging patients at PACSO and provides ongoing support for post-operative follow-up and the long-term survival of patients.
In addition to her work in patient care, Dr. Louw is an essential part of Dr. Myburgh’s surgical assistant team in the operating theatre, where she assists in a variety of oncological procedures. Her dedication to patient well-being and her expertise in supporting complex surgical procedures make her an invaluable part of the PACSO team.
